Marlins call up OF Maybin to replace Ross

08/24/2010 - Flushing, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Florida Marlins have recalled outfielder Cameron Maybin from Triple-A New Orleans to take the roster spot of Cody Ross, who was claimed off waivers by the Giants over the weekend.

Maybin was optioned to Triple-A back on June 18 shortly after top prospect Mike Stanton was promoted directly from Double-A.

The 23-year-old Maybin struggled in 51 games this season with Florida, batting .225 with a .290 on-base percentage, five home runs and 19 runs batted in.

Ross was a regular member of Florida's outfield for the past five years and was hitting .265 with 11 home runs and 58 RBI in 120 games for his old club at the time of the claim.
